Where & When to Use

Where to Use: Use these spikes for all your outdoor, in-ground deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs.

Types of Plants: Perfect for all deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs including acid-loving plants.

How Often to Use: Apply once in the spring and once in the fall.

How To Use

Water First: Give the soil around your tree or shrub a good watering to soften it up before you start.
Find the Dripline: The dripline is the area of ground under the outermost branches of your tree or shrub. Measure the diameter of the dripline to determine how many plant food spikes you'll need.
Space them Out: Space the spikes at least 3 feet apart, evenly around the dripline.
Drive in the Spikes: Gently hammer a spike into the ground using a rubber mallet until it is below the soil surface.

How Much To Use

The number of spikes you'll need depends on the dripline diameter of your tree or shrub:

4 ft. diameter = 1 spike
6 ft. diameter = 3 spikes
8 ft. diameter = 5 spikes
10 ft. diameter = 7 spikes
12 ft. diameter = 10 spikes
15 ft. diameter = 16 spikes

Watering Tips

After you've placed the spikes, just continue with your regular watering routine for your trees and shrubs.
